Free Classroom Resources pack about social entrepreneurship for your school

We’re delighted to offer a free classroom resource pack about social enterprise, funded by the Scottish Government’s Entrepreneurial Education Pathways Fund.

This is a ready-to-use classroom activity for young people in S4 to S6, to help them:

  • Describe the key differences between private, public, and third sector organisations.
  • Define what a social enterprise is and explain its core characteristics.
  • Identify examples of social enterprises in Scotland and summarise their social impact.
  • Compare the aims and operations of social enterprises with traditional business models.
  • Evaluate the benefits and challenges faced by social enterprises.
  • Propose ways individuals can support and advocate for social enterprises.
  • Reflect on how business can be a force for positive social and environmental change.

And it's completely free!

Social Deal uses a creative story-based approach to introduce the different elements of business planning (such as market research, identifying customers, developing capacities, finance, sales, social purpose) and how a business model might influence the types of startup funding available.
The game is collaborative, with players sharing the stories they create, and can be replayed to experiment with different approaches.
